2 Google Fonts Similar to Gibson

Gibson is a sturdy sans-serif font that is widely used in many apps today. It is very popular in corporate design. Gibson comes in 8 different weights, which makes it a good fit for both body and headline text.

After digging through the Google Font library, I was able to find two good font alternatives.

Just a quick disclaimer, no free font is going to replace the original premium version. So the fonts below are similar in nature and share similar characteristics. However, if you are in a position to do so. I recommend purchasing the font directly from the creator.

What Google Fonts are Similar to Gibson?

The best Google Font alternatives for Gibson are:

  • Noto Sans
  • Montserrat

Either one of these would be a great alternative to Gibson. So let's cover what they have in common and what the differences are.

Noto Sans

Noto Sans is a very popular sans-serif that is available in the Google Font library. It is a pretty close match to Gibson. There are some minor differences in the lowercase "g", "y", and "t".

The uppercase is also very similar. The main difference is in the "I".

Although they are not exactly the same, I believe that they are close enough to be used as an alternative.

Go ahead and compare below.

Montserrat

Montserrat would also be another good alternative for Gibson. The letters are a little wider than Gibson, but the overall look and feel is the same.

In the lowercase letters, there is a small difference in the "y" and "g". However, every other letter is very similar.

The uppercase is where things start to differ some. You will see the main differences in the "M", "G", "Q", and "R".

So if your design will be using a lot of uppercase then I would not recommend Montserrat as an alternative.

Take a look below.

Final Thoughts

Both Notos Sans and Montserrat would make for good alternatives to Gibson. I believe that Noto Sans would be your best bet between the two since it matches both the uppercase and lowercase better.
